January Favourites | 2016

I know I know, I’m late to the party. Fashionably late. Nevertheless, I have been really excited to share my January favourites with you all. Here are the things that I have been loving in the first month of 2016.

Morphe 35O Eyeshadow Palette, £20.75.

I got this beautiful thing in December and I only just got round to properly experimenting with it in January. I am head over heels with the colours (as I’m sure everyone and their mother is) and the pigmentation is so impressive at such an affordable price. I’ve loved wearing the burnt Orange shades under my lower lash line and I find the warmer shades in the palette really bring out my dull, Brown eyes. Here are some swatches of my most favourite shades:

Milani Baked Bronzer – 04 Glow, £5.39.

I actually use this as a blusher. After I saw this featured in Melissa Alatorre’s video I ordered it instantly. I’m not much of a blusher girl but after recieving this in the post there hasn’t been a day where it has not graced my face. I don’t really know why Milani have marketed it as a bronzer, it’s quite the opposite! It’s a beautiful blusher and highlighter in one and it adds such a lovely natural glow to the skin.

Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner – 13 Mat Black, £16.00.

Can we take a moment for this liquid eyeliner? It is honestly one of the best liquid eyeliners I have ever used. It comes in a close second under my beloved NYC liquid liner. For some reason creating winged liner is so easy using this product. What used to take me twenty minutes now only takes two. Not to mention it’s waterproof and stays put all day which is always a winner.

Eyeko Skinny Brush Mascara – Black, £15.00.

If you have been following me on Instagram, you will know that I am pretty much the master of finding glorious makeup treasures at TK Maxx. The Eyeko Skinny Brush Mascara is one of the many treasures I have discovered and I find myself going back to it pretty much every time I am doing my makeup. I always get compliments when I am wearing this mascara. I just love the way it lengthens and fans out my lashes.

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray, £22.00.

I live for this stuff. This has elevated my makeup game completely. I first tried the 30ml bottle for nine pounds before taking the plunge in buying the full size. I wanted to see what all the hype was all about. I am glad to inform you that my money has not been wasted on this product! The reason why everyone raves about this product is because it truly is amazing. It keeps my makeup locked in place all day and I cannot fault it.

Rimmel London 1000 Kisses Lip Liner – Capuccino, £2.99.

I have been using this lip liner every single day for the past few months but I thought I would include it in my January favourites because I don’t believe I have mentioned it at all. I wear this with a nude lip, red lip, dark lip, you name it. It is a beautiful Grey-Brown colour that I find is great for cheating my lip shape. Reminds me a lot of Stone Lip Liner by MAC!

Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer – SX11, £38.00.

When I first purchased this, I was kind of lost on how I could make it work for my under eyes. Ever since I took to Instagram to ask you guys and discovered my preferred way to use the SSE, I have been madly in love. SX11 is not light enough for me to use as a concealer on its own and it creases way too much.  I like to mix this with another lighter concealer for under the eye (my favourite combination right now being the SSE and Maybelline Fit Me Concealer!). Whenever I want a flawless under eye Kevin Aucoin is my go-to. It’s also great for covering spots, scars and discolouration. It will even cover your sins if need be. It’s my mighty pot of magic.

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector – Champagne Pop, £32.00.

I am extremely late to this party and I shamelessly bought this just from hearing so many good things about it. Everyone and their mother, aunty, cat and dog were talking about Champagne Pop so when Space NK stocked this on their website, I caved in and purchased it. Thirty pounds for a highlighter is expensive for me but this beauty is worth every penny. It’s one of two highlighters that actually stay on my face all day without fading (the other being Laura Geller).

L.A. Girl Pro Conceal Corrector – Pure Yellow, £2.49.

This past month I have been using this Yellow corrector in place of my Orange corrector for discolouration. For some reason using the Orange corrector always made me look ashy underneath my makeup, so when I tried the Pure Yellow corrector from L.A. Girl instead, it worked so effectively I just carried on using it in my makeup routine! I use this pretty much every day now before I apply concealer and it helps mask my dreadful under-eye circles.

Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick – Nude Embrace, £6.99.

You may have seen this in my Superdrug Haul. I bought this lipstick when Maybelline first released their Creamy Matte Lipstick collection. It occured to me that I had very few Nude colours and I was on a misson to change that. Nude Embrace was the only matte Nude lipstick that didn’t wash me out and I wear it a lot. Whether I’m in a hurry or I don’t know what lip colour to wear, Nude Embrace is always my first choice. I often pair this with my trusty Rimmel London Lip Liner in Capuccino and it is my favourite lip combination ever!

I hope you enjoyed my first installation of monthly favourites on Non-Fiction Beauty. Do let me know what you have been loving for the month of January!

Take care my loves,
