If there’s one brand that my mind runs to when it comes to picking a quality drugstore mascara… it’s Maybelline. I love Maybelline and their products but one thing I haven’t tried enough of from them are their mascaras (I have tried maybe two or three but we’re talking yonks ago here so I cannot remember what they were like!). For some reason I just haven’t gotten round to trying all of them. But when someone asks me “what’s a good mascara from here?” in Superdrug I instantly take them to Maybelline. I’m constantly watching and reading people rave about Maybelline mascaras and rightly so too. I love their Big Eyes mascara and I’ve heard amazing things about the Falsies.
One mascara I kept seeing everywhere this year is the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. It’s the pretty glossy Lilac tube and the bold Black font that catches everyone’s eye. This cute mascara tube holds 9.5ml of product for £7.99 and it’s a good ‘un.
Here’s what Maybelline claim about their ‘lash multiplying mascara’,
Our first LAYER-REVEAL brush: Inner bristles capture the tiniest lashes you didn’t know you had whilst outer bristles volumise & define the look of longer lashes. From corner to corner, top to bottom, no lash is left behind. Our liquid ink formula, with a low wax count creates the blackest of black lashes that are so dark and defined. Layers can be built without clumping.
The wand of this mascara is very interesting as it reminds me of Benefit’s Roller Lash Mascara (hmmm). It’s a plastic wand which features two gorgeous curves designed to really separate your lashes giving them ultimate length and definition. A small inner curve with tiny hooks to grab onto the roots of your lashes, and a large outer curve with longer bristles that fan out. It is quite a thick wand (which I learnt the hard way) but I do like the design of it.
I really get on with the formula of this mascara. It’s not too wet, but not so sticky that it makes your lashes feel crispy when dried. Having set that this mascara does set fast, which may be a con if you like to layer up more than two coats. I have no problem with that as I just use two coats of mascara. Something I do find a bit tricky though, is not getting mascara on my lid when applying it. Haha. I love everything about this mascara besides that small qualm. I don’t experience any flaking with this mascara and it catches my lower lashes beautifully.
Maybelline really emphasises the point that you can layer up this mascara without clumping, which is true to an extent. I have had my Lash Sensational mascara for a good while now so the formula isn’t as good as it used to be, which means it can clump up my lashes slightly (as you will see in the demo). I did not have this problem originally with the mascara however, I just need to buy a new one!
Let’s get on with the demo!
Overall this is an amazing lengthening mascara and the wand really separates your lashes for a defined yet natural look. If you’re looking for volume you won’t find it in this mascara, nonetheless I love using this on its own and with L’Oreal Miss Manga Punky Mascara when I want my lashes to look fuller.
This wonderful mascara comes in Black, Intense Black and Waterproof. It can be found in Superdrug stores and online for £7.99.
What other Maybelline mascaras do you think I should try? I’m definitely adding the Falsies to my list!
Take care my lovelies,
