DUPE ALERT | MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Soft Ochre

There are tons of eyeshadow primers on the market that are highly raved about. Urban Decay Primer Potion, Too Faced Shadow Insurance, to name a couple. Another great product that is popular among eyeshadow primers are cream eyeshadows. MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pots in particular, have been getting a whole lot of love from makeup enthusiasts on YouTube. The most popular shades being Soft Ochre, a light Beige and Painterly, a pale Pink Beige.

You may have seen the Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Eyeshadow featured in my Superdrug Haul a couple of months ago. Maybelline have released two new shades to their Color Tattoo collection; Creme de Nude and Creme de Rose. Upon discovering these I instantly thought of Soft Ochre and Painterly paint pots by MAC. When I tested them they were both neutral Matte shades, one warm-toned and one cool-toned. I purchased Creme de Nude as soon as I tried it. It’s brilliant at cancelling out the discolouration I have on my lids and providing a nice base for eyeshadow.

To put my speculated dupe to the test I headed to my nearest MAC store to see Soft Ochre and Creme de Nude side by side. To my much anticipated excitement, they’re pretty close! They look a lot more identical in person than in photos. Now, I don’t own Soft Ochre, hence my little trip to a MAC store. Albeit I can tell you that Maybelline’s Creme de Nude cream eyeshadow seems like pretty amazing dupe for a fraction of the price. MAC’s Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Soft Ochre does perform a little better with a creamier formula. However, this little gem from Maybelline definitely gives MAC a run for their money!

The Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Eyeshadow in Creme de Nude is not only creamy but has great longevity. I like to swipe this over my lid with my finger to warm the product up, then set it with a powder (as it doesn’t set straight away) before going in with eyeshadow.

If you’re looking to invest in a decent eyeshadow base without breaking the bank, this is brilliant! I’d definitely try this out next time you’re in Superdrug. MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pots retail for £16.00 whereas Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Eyeshadow retails for only £4.99! Pretty good dupe if you ask me.

Do you have any great MAC dupes? I’d love to know!

Take care my lovelies,
